AIM Higher, Inc., doing business as the Academy of Intentional Magic (“AIM,” “Academy,” “we,” “our,” or “us”), respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information thoughtfully and responsibly.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit www.academyofintentionalmagic.com (the “Site”), participate in Academy programs or community spaces, subscribe to our communications, purchase an offering, or otherwise interact with us (collectively, the “Services”).
The Academy website and many of our online Services are hosted and administered through Podia, a third-party platform provider. Podia processes certain information on our behalf in order to provide hosting, account management, email, community, commerce, analytics, and related services.
This Privacy Policy describes AIM’s practices. Podia and other third-party service providers may also collect and process information under their own privacy policies.
We collect information that you provide directly to us, information generated through your use of the Services, and certain information processed for us by service providers such as Podia and Stripe.
Depending on how you interact with AIM, this information may include:
Your name
Your email address
Your billing ZIP code and/or country of residence
Information associated with your Academy account
Programs, workshops, memberships, or other offerings you purchase or join
Communications you send to us
Content you voluntarily post or share within Academy community spaces
Transaction information, such as the date and amount of a purchase
Technical and usage information associated with your visit to the Site, such as IP address, browser or device information, pages viewed, and interactions with the Site
We do not ask you to provide more personal information than we reasonably need to operate the Academy, communicate with you, and provide the programs or Services you request.
Payments for Academy programs and other paid offerings are processed through third-party payment services, including Stripe, generally through our Podia-hosted site.
AIM does not directly receive or store your full credit or debit card number. Payment processors may collect payment information necessary to complete your transaction and handle that information according to their own privacy and security practices.

We use Podia to host and operate significant portions of the Academy’s online presence, including website features, customer accounts, online offerings, community functions, email communications, and commerce.
When you interact with the Academy through Podia, Podia may process information on our behalf in order to provide those services.
For personal information AIM collects in connection with Academy programs and Services, AIM generally determines the purposes for which that information is used. Service providers such as Podia may process that information on our behalf in accordance with their agreements with us and applicable law.
Podia may also process certain information for its own legitimate business purposes under its own privacy policy.
We may also use other service providers when reasonably necessary to operate AIM, such as providers of:
Payment processing
Website hosting and technology services
Email delivery
Analytics
Administrative or technical support
Fraud prevention and security services
Professional services
We provide these service providers only with information reasonably necessary for them to perform their functions.

Create and administer your Academy account
Register you for programs, workshops, courses, memberships, events, or other offerings

If you subscribe to Academy emails, register for an offering, become a member, or otherwise request communications from us, we may send you information relating to your relationship with AIM.
Some communications are transactional or administrative, such as registration confirmations, account notices, program information, schedule changes, or important updates relating to something you have purchased or joined.
We may also send newsletters and promotional communications where you have subscribed or where otherwise permitted by law.
You may unsubscribe from promotional email at any time using the unsubscribe link included in the message. Unsubscribing from promotional communications will not necessarily stop transactional or administrative messages that are necessary to provide a Service you requested.
Some Academy Services may include community spaces, discussion areas, workshops, or other opportunities for participants to share writing, artwork, comments, profile information, or other content.
Information you voluntarily make available to other participants may be visible to those participants. Please use your judgment when deciding what personal information to share in community spaces.
AIM is not responsible for another participant’s use of information that you voluntarily make available to them, although conduct within Academy spaces remains subject to any applicable community guidelines and Terms of Service.
Our Site and the third-party platforms that support it may use cookies and similar technologies.

If AIM undergoes a merger, reorganization, dissolution, transfer of programs or assets, or similar organizational change, relevant records may be transferred as part of that process where permitted by law and consistent with our nonprofit obligations.
When you register for an Academy offering taught or facilitated by a teaching artist, we may provide that instructor or facilitator with information reasonably necessary to conduct the program, such as your name, email address, enrollment status, or material you have submitted for the program.
Teaching artists and facilitators are expected to use participant information only as reasonably necessary to conduct the applicable Academy program and to respect participant privacy.
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and may include the time necessary to:
Maintain your account or provide Services
Maintain enrollment and program records
Keep appropriate financial, tax, and nonprofit records
Resolve disputes
Enforce agreements
Meet legal, regulatory, insurance, or accounting requirements
When information is no longer reasonably needed, we may delete it or retain it in aggregated or de-identified form.
Information maintained by third-party service providers may also be subject to their own retention practices.

We also rely on third-party providers, including Podia and Stripe, for important aspects of the security of the technology and payment systems used to provide our Services.

You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for using reasonable care when accessing your account.
The Academy’s general online Services are not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 16 through the general Site without appropriate authorization.
Certain AIM programs may occasionally be designed specifically for younger participants. Where a program is intended for children, we may establish separate registration, parental consent, privacy, or participation procedures appropriate to that program and applicable law.

Depending on where you live and the circumstances in which your information is processed, you may have rights concerning your personal information.

If you are located in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, or another jurisdiction with comparable data-protection laws, AIM may process personal information on one or more of the following legal bases:
Contractual necessity. We may process information when necessary to provide a program, membership, account, product, or other Service you requested.
Consent. We may process information where you have given us consent, including where required for particular marketing or cookie activities.
Legitimate interests. We may process information where reasonably necessary for legitimate organizational purposes, such as operating and improving the Academy, communicating with participants, maintaining security, preventing fraud, and administering our programs, provided those interests are not overridden by your applicable rights.

Where AIM determines the purpose and means of processing personal information relating to Academy participants, subscribers, and customers, AIM generally acts as the data controller. Service providers such as Podia may process information on AIM’s behalf as data processors.
Podia may separately act as a controller for information it processes for its own purposes under its privacy policy.
AIM is based in the United States, and the technology providers we use may process or store information in the United States or other countries.
If you access the Academy from outside the United States, your information may therefore be transferred to and processed in a country whose privacy laws differ from those of your home jurisdiction.
Where required by applicable law, AIM and its service providers may rely on contractual or other legally recognized mechanisms for international data transfers.
Information processed through Podia may be subject to Podia’s applicable data-processing and international-transfer arrangements.
The Site may contain links to websites, tools, applications, or services operated by organizations other than AIM.
AIM does not control the privacy or data practices of these third parties. If you follow a link or use a third-party service, we encourage you to review that provider’s privacy policy.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as our programs, technology, service providers, or legal obligations change.
When we make material changes, we may provide notice through the Site, by email, or by another reasonable method.
